Hosted Cloud Services: An Introduction For Curious Business Owners

by Brandon Stewart

In the age of technology, many of the processes that take place behind the scenes of most businesses have some type of technology involved. The problem with this is, not every company or business owner is capable of handling all of this technical stuff all on their own, which is why hosted cloud services have become such a popular idea in the modern world. If you are an up-and-coming business owner who is just starting to see that your technology needs are outgrowing your on-site capabilities, you are bound to have a few questions. Here are a few things you probably want to know about hosted cloud services

What is a cloud-based server?

If you have a lot of technological or computed demands in your place of business, you have to have computer servers in your business who can send, retrieve, and store data. For most business owners, their data needs grow beyond what they are capable of handling on their own servers, which means they have to bring in the aid of a cloud-based server provider. When this occurs, data generated, sent, retrieved, and stored will go to the cloud server, which is an off-site server set up by the provider that is much larger and much better equipped to handle larger data demands.

What does it mean if your website becomes cloud hosted?

If you are hosting your own website, you essentially have obtained your own website address, built the site via your own channels, and will handle all processes involved with running that site all on your own. If you have a website that is cloud hosted by an outside service, certain parts of the handling of your website happen through the cloud host. For example, some companies have a website that they have created, but the data sent through that website by customers go to hosted servers because they do not have on-site servers big enough to handle the traffic demands.

Are cloud-based services secure?

When you allow an outside entity to take control over certain technological processes and some of your information becomes stored on the cloud alongside other business information, security is naturally going to be a top concern. However, the companies that offer various forms of cloud services take extreme measures to ensure every bit of data that runs through their servers or is stored on their cloud is kept safe and secure. Most use data encryption, firewalls, and various other safeguards.

About Me

Improving Technology Every Day

A few years back, I started thinking carefully about how I was going to take my home into the modern age. I really wanted the entire space to feel fresh, clean, and functional, so I began looking in to adding some new technologies. It was really interesting to see how many different options there were out there to enjoy, and after adding a home automation system, things really clicked. I wanted to start a new blog that centered around improving technology and knowing how to prevent problems, so I made this little website. Read these posts for great information about updating your place.
