Installing An Alarm System On Your Home That Will Increase Security

by Brandon Stewart

The idea of the home being one's castle is a great thought. Like the kings of old, if the home is your castle, you need to post sentries on the gate and walls to keep the castle secure. The sentries, in this case, come in the form of an alarm system that is monitored and set up to catch intruders trying to get into the home.

Protecting The Perimeter

The first line of defense of any stronghold is the outer perimeter. When you are talking about alarm systems, those cameras that are watching the outside of your home are your first line of defense. If the intruder can not see the cameras, all the better. If they are not avoiding the camera, it is easier to get a good picture that the police can use to search for the would-be thief. The mounting positions can be on the home, is a tree, or on a post if that is the best spot for your home. They need to be on to be effective so make sure you keep them running and recording so that if there is any trouble, the camera will record it.

Contact Sensors

The next thing the security company will add for you is contacts on all the glass, the front and rear door, and the door leading into the garage. The idea is to form a grid of protection over the home so there are no holes for the would-be burglar to get through. They might try but if all the contacts are in place and the alarm is set, all it will take is a very slight amount of movement to set the alarm off and get police rolling your way. Keep in mind, the company that is monitoring your alarm system is going to call you so make sure that you have the right code and information for them when they do. If it is a false alarm, let them know so they can stop the police from responding before they get rolling.

Motion Sensors

Inside the home, motion sensors can make a great third layer of defense for your home. If the thief gets past the cameras and the contact points, the motion detectors will pick him up as soon as he steps into the house. Add to that a few cameras inside that are only on when you are not home and you have your castle pretty well fortified. There are other accessories that can be added, but talk to local alarm companies for more details about what they offer.

About Me

Improving Technology Every Day

A few years back, I started thinking carefully about how I was going to take my home into the modern age. I really wanted the entire space to feel fresh, clean, and functional, so I began looking in to adding some new technologies. It was really interesting to see how many different options there were out there to enjoy, and after adding a home automation system, things really clicked. I wanted to start a new blog that centered around improving technology and knowing how to prevent problems, so I made this little website. Read these posts for great information about updating your place.
